🎓 As a Computer Science Professor, I’ve reviewed 100+ fresher resumes. The harsh truth? 78% of talented students undersell themselves on their resume.

Let me share key points from the smartest resumes I reviewed.

A brilliant student with a 9.2 GPA handed me his resume. Strong academics, but it was missing the elements that make recruiters take notice.

Here’s what I tell my students to do differently:

1️⃣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸

➤ Weak: “Built an AI chatbot for final year project”

➤ Strong: “Led 4-member team to develop mental health support chatbot, achieving 85% user satisfaction in campus pilot with 50+ students”

2️⃣ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀:

➤ Weak: “Participated in hackathons”

➤ Strong: “Secured 2nd place among 75 teams in national hackathon by developing sustainable energy monitoring solution in 36 hours”

3️⃣ 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽:

➤ Weak: “Class representative”

➤ Strong: “Coordinated between 60 students and 8 faculty members, resolving 90% of academic concerns within 24 hours”

Your GPA matters, but your ability to apply knowledge matters more. My most successful students demonstrate both.
